Direct drive units
- The positioning of the direct drive units is controlled by means of a torque motor, (integrated into the table housing / center shaft) and encoder combination.
- In 1997 Peiseler was the first to introduce this technology and has experience with multi axis direct drive dividing heads for simultaneous machining since 2001.
- The advantages of fewer moving parts; higher dynamics; and higher rotational speed when compared to NC units with Ott Gearing, must be carefully weighed against the required high input torque; lower output torque; and higher system cost due to the required support equipment.
- The combined function of turning and milling has become a reality with direct drives. Units capable of very high speeds with high accuracy and solid stiffness are available from Peiseler.
- Peiseler manufactures direct drive trunnions, tables and 2 axis rotary tilt units AWD, AWDP, ATD, ATDP, SKD and ZASD.
