Ott gearing

  • Ott gearing is a patented worm wheel transmission system. It consists of a bronze worm wheel which is driven by a steel worm. The worm is two-part hollow and shaft worm and is pre-loaded during assembly.
  • The worm wheel is mounted on the spindle of the turning device or the table and thus has a fixed position in relation to the faceplate.
  • The input drive is flanged directly to the worm or reduced by means of gear belt transmission.
  • Ott transmissions work with an absence of play and require an angle measuring system for positioning. Ott gearing is backlash adjustable and is thus easy to maintain.
  • The high torque output is an advantage of the Ott gearing in heavy milling operations and under high acceleration or eccentric load conditions.
  • The Ott gearing enables a simultaneous 4 and 5 axis machining.
  • Tables and trunnions are NC devices that are suitable for simultaneous positioning and machining. All angular positions are possible with the Ott gearing. The accuracy of the measuring system is the only restriction when positioning.
  • The Peiseler products AWU/AWUP, ATU/ATUP, SKU and ZAS/ZASP are NC units and work with Ott gearing. The additional code P designates a model with a pneumatically activated clamp.
